Tuesday tittle-tattle

Good evening little bloggy peoples, hope this post finds you all well. Lots of things to report since my last posting.

Firstly autumn is definitely here – I’m missing summer already and trying to decide where to go on hols next year (and who to persuade to go with me). Finally got heating to come on (sort of, but don’t really know what I did – all rooms in flat cosy and toasty though so can’t complain).

Went to SECC with L, N & R on Sunday – we had an absolute ball (it was a pity T couldn’t make it this time though). I did almost lose my debit card, but luckily I had left it in the machine thingy when I bought a ticket (then scampered off to grab a can of irn bru which was a total rip off). Apparently they called us on the tannoy & stuff, but I must’ve been so busy getting my e-number fix I didn’t notice. Luckily about 3 hours later I noticed that my purse was open and my card wasn’t in it, so went back to the desk to recover it. Got some nice crafty stuff (see photo below), which can hopefully be put to use on the long dark winter nights.
Work’s been really good so far this week, although complete bedlam – don’t know what I’m doing half the time.

Photoshop class was last night – I had spend 7 hours at work on one document, so that coupled with 3 hours of digital editing did mean my eyes were pretty tired by the time I got home. Was really, really pleased with some of my images though; I was working on photos I took in Palma (which I realise I still haven’t posted here yet) and seriously considering getting a couple of them put onto canvas.

Finally did some food shopping today – went to Morrisons for a change – was really impressed – had a great selection and made a change from the normal Asda or (dreaded) Tesco routine. Got some yummy olives stuffed with lemon, monkey nuts since it’s Halloween and mint Matchmakers because they’re nice, so sort of got a sore belly from eating so much. In a similar vein I got a cracking little cookbook on Friday – lots of really nice stuff in it, so will need to organise some dinners in the next couple of months.

Finally went to see C on Saturday – her wedding photos were great and they’re settling in to the new house really well. She invited me to The Witchery on 23rd Dec, should be a fab night (and by a strange coincidence I’m off to Rhubarb at Prestonfield House the weekend before.(luckily the menus are quite different as they’re owned by the same people).

Spanish class tonight, so off to attempt to cram a week’s work into half an hour.

Dare 2 - Use the Kitchen

I've used the kitchen i 2 separate ways for this dare (certainly wasn't for cooking though as haven't been food shopping yet - will deffo today or tomorrow though!)

This card is made by sticking split peas onto a Quicktutz tree then dusting with spring green Pearlex powder. The background paper is American Traditional Designs - Dear Santa. (as usual my photo is pretty crap, so I'll try to do a scan on Monday)

This card is made with Fimo embellishments (which required me to use the oven to bake them) Tags are cut from Making Memories Cosmopolitan and the font is GAW.

Feelgood Friday

Wooohoooo – the weekend is finally here – is it only me who feels this has been a long long week. Things for me still going great – probably the happiest I’ve been in quite a while – my reflection period is doing me the world of good.

Meeting with L, N & R on Sunday – sure we’ll have fun (cos we always do).

I really must put some effort into stripping the hall this weekend – I know you regular readers will be thinking “she can’t still be doing that, it’s been going on for months now”, but it is amazing how quickly I seem to be able to become accustomed to the squat-look (just ask anyone who saw the paint splodges in my living room for most of last year!!).

Apart from that I think all I’ll be doing is general catching up with my friends. Need to see Mum & G at some point too.

Oh and found a voucher for M&S in my brown bag earlier in the week (hadn’t used the bag since last winter) so Percy Pig heaven here I come…

The only slightly frustrating thing at the moment is that I don’t know how to work my heating (even though I’ve lived here for almost 8 years), so it’s just sort of pot luck messing around with the timer – perhaps I’ll get it tomorrow.

Totally Tuesday

Finally seem to be able to load photos to blogger again, so will get some of my holiday ones up over the next couple of days (don't bother holding your breath unless you're into buildings/statues/sea though!!). Over the weekend I didn't do much, but sort of did lots of little things if you know what I mean.
On Sunday went with M, H & O to see The Devil Wears Prada. N - much as it pains me to admit it, you were 100% correct - it was totally rubbish (would give it 3/10 at a push, but perhaps that's because I'm in a particularly generous mood today).
Really looking forward to meeting L, N & R at the weekend - must remember to get in touch with T too, to find out if she's feeling up to it.
Got nice short cord knickerbocker things yesterday - v. Little Lord Faulteroy - all I need to go with them now is the trilby I've been coveting (and someplace to go!!).
Actually thinking about places to go, it's not long until Bonfire Night - must get something sorted cos I adore fireworks so much.
Oh, and if you know me in real life, you may actually get a christmas card from me this year as I've sort of started making them (again, probably safer not to start holding your breath quite yet!). Must must must rem to do M's b/day card.
Have decided I'd really like one of those pen & tablet thingys you use for Photoshop, so off to scan Ebay - any recommendations appreciated.

The first dare

This my first attempt at the first dare on the brand new Daring Cardmakers blog.

Not particularly pleased with the result - it looks very simple compared to all the other entries (although I do tend to opt for bold/simple most of the time).

The lilac spotty paper is Making Memories, the font is Curly Girlie.

Almost There

Well, it's been a chaotic week workwise, but a good one I suppose - I'd be bored stiff if it wasn't hectic.
On Tuesday I went to see Volver - it was excellent; Penelope Cruz is so much better as an actress when she's speaking in her native tongue. God would I kill to look like instead of like me too. It was at the Town Hall and they had this cracking Taxi Driver poster, as it is showing on Monday. I've asked if I can get it once they're finished with it - so fingers crossed cos it would look really good in my hall.
Tonight I'm off to a Christmas dinner & party although hopefully will manage to bail about 21:00. Got some stuff I'd like to work on when I get home, all in ancipation of something I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully it will give me the kick up the arse I've been needing lately.
No plans for the weekend :( apart from trying to see The Devil Wears Prada.
Sorry it's a bit short and not particularly sweet tonight, but in a bit of a rush.
Oh, and I want to learn to play guitar.

Lots of little things

Come together to make me feel happy :)
Nothing major, nothing gobsmackingly exciting, but you know just when things seem to be going right for you.
M came round on Saturday afternoon - I helped her with her presentation, we ate scones with jam & clotted cream and we've arranged to see The Devil Wears Prada next weekend (we were going to go on Sat night, but M said H wanted to see it as well, but her and O were at their Dad's for the weekend and it seemed too cruel to go without her).
Sat night I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory before The Omen came on. It was enjoyable - a bit strange but good. Johnny Depp looked rather bizarre, but still tasty.
Sunday went into town with Mum and G. Had a nice shopping day - got everyday boots which are so so comfy and G got a nice green coat (which just may be getting borrowed from time to time).
I also managed (finally!!!!) to get new bedding - I mean it's only been February since I decorated my bedroom. Now all I need is spare bedding, curtains and a lightshade - didn't bother me too much in the summer cos it was light really early and didn't get dark til really late, but now it is a bit embarrassing when I have to put the light on in the morning and all I have is a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling and no curtains.
Made a start on cutting out bits for crimbo cards - still not got a finished one yet though. Quite busy this week as had college tonight, going to a Spanish movie tomorrow, have a pre Christmas freebie bash on Thursday.
Still got loads of things I need to do before the end of the year, but all in all things are looking promising :D:D

That Friday Feeling!!!

You know the one - you're completely shattered, get home from work early and all you really want to do is go to bed and stay there til morning.
Going to have a lovely relaxing time this weekend. Want to spend some time catching up with Mum, C, and M. Also want to spend some time working on ideas for new cards and stuff. Got Charlie & the Chocolate Factory to watch tomorrow night between X Factor andThe Omen (and stuff to make a nice dinner from M&S - in fact already had 4 Percy Pigs!!). Sure I'll manage to find some time for reading in nice long baths as well.
Bumped into DMcN at lunchtime - is weird cos I have barely seen him since we left school then I bump into him twice in the last couple of months. Was good to see him (although isn't it always nice to see your old school chums). Unfortunately I was on lunchbreak so didn't have time to catch up.
Traffic going back to work was terrible - it ended up taking me half an hour to travel 3 miles - stupid temporary traffic lights at the roadworks were only working in one direction, resulting in total gridlock!!!
That's about it for now really I think, but I'll try to actually make something and see if I can get my photos to show on silly blogger.
TTFN xoxo
p.s. Kathy, you know I'll thinking about you over the next couple of days (and thanks for your kind words). You know where I am if you want someone to speak to. xo

Not forgotten

... about you little blog - just seem to have not enough hours in the day and been really tired - too tired to write really.

Anyways if anyone reads this just to let you know I will start posting again at the weekend - because of some really bad times in the past this is always when I do my reflections/resolutions/ambitions, so got a list as long as my arm to write about all the things I want to do in the next 12 months, both at home and at work.
Catchya soon.
