Nightmare on Notnamedafteratree Street

For the past couple of weeks I've been having the most dreadful nightmares, ranging from ones which have me waking up in an ice-cold sweat, to the ones which are like hallucinations, to ones where I imagine my body is someplace else and incapable of doing things.
Don't know why I'm getting them, cos I don't have a guilty conscience about anything (apart from not going to the gym, but I went tonight).
Looking forward to going out on Friday, cos it seems to have been a really long week this week. Today was a pretty crap day - couldn't find a couple of things I was looking for, even though I was positive I knew where they were (doesn't help that there is loads of other stuff cluttering up my office at the moment). Think we're going up btw - meant to be going for something to eat first, but I'll wait and see what time they're going at - want to go to gym after work on Friday, so will never manage one of those ridiculous 7.30 starts.
I'm sure I must have something more interesting to say, but just can't think of it atm.

Gotcha!!

My T in the Park tix that is :D:D:D - couldn't get weekend ones, but I managed to get 2 for the Sunday and C got 2 for the Saturday, so all's well.
Tis my birthday today, so heading up to Mum's later for some dinner. J's party was a hoot last night - me and G had such a laugh dancing to YMCA, Timewarp & Belle of Belfast City.
Did I mention I got T in the Park tickets :D:D:D:D:D:D

Deadly

Went to The Killers at the SECC last night - such a good gig - a massive 10/10 (my personal faves were Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll and All The Things That I've Done - so no surprises there - along with a great cover of Joy Division's Shadowplay).
The evening was not without its mishaps though. Firstly C tore ligaments in her ankle on Wendesday night, and admitted on Thursday afternoon that there was no way she'd be able to stand on it for that length of time - was really disappointed but we're going to try to get tickets for T in the Park to make up for it.
Then I got through to SECC, met up with B's friend A and discovered NO TICKETS!!!!! A was alright cos I'd given his to B last weekend. At first I thought maybe I had pulled mine out my bag when I got my gloves, so retraced steps, no result. Then I called Mum just in case, and asked her to go down to the flat to look - 10 mins later a phone call saying they were there with a bundle of stuff I had pulled out my bag to make it lighter.
Originally we were going to meet halfway, although the traffic heading back was going to be bad cos of that stupid tipper truck managing to lift its tipper right under a motorway overhead sign and getting well and truly stuck!!! Then my wonderful Mum had a brainwave - she'd jump on a train & meet us at Queen St. Station. So A and I walked up to Queen St - lucky I knew how to get there ok - picked up tickets and headed back to SECC - managed to get a taxi just by the river so saved some time too. Felt really guilty cos I didn't even know A and I'm dragging him all over Glasgow less than an hour before the gig due to start.
Off today, have some stuff to make for J's 60th birthday pressie for tomorrow - she's having a surprise party which should be nice - although it has a 7:30 start!!!!!
Bad thing is someone has put a dent in my car today - think it happened in Asda carpark, but can't be 100% sure it didn't happen at SECC last night.
Anyways off to do creative stuff, so TTFN xoxoxo

Achoo..........

This week at DCMs You are being Dared to make a card that is inspired by 'All Things Media'.

Mine is based on media over-reaction/hype regarding bird flu :D:D. Pretty crap card actually, but once the idea popped in, I couldn't think of anything else.

They're all ganging up on me!!!

My little machines, that is. First silly car decides not to go and then I was faffing about with my MP3 with gloves on and dropped him, now he has a hard disk problem and won't work :(:(:(:(:(
I suppose I will need to get a new one, but really could do without spending c.£200 (esp since I'm still not sure what is wrong with the car, although I think it is only a battery).
So, suffice to say I am in a total crap mood, plus have had a blinding headache all day and blurry eyes and really really bad hair.
The only good thing is that's I ordered my SLF ticket today :D:D:D - can't wait.
Off to have a bath now to cheer me up.

Dead & Digging

Dead - car had died on me overnight - little bugger that it is - cost me and arm & leg to get a cab to work (and was too dark when I got home to jump start it - why oh why do none of my family have anything practical like a torch!!) Meant I missed Photoshop tonight, so quite pissed about that.
Digging...into my past. I've been doing my family tree for a week now and it's coming on great - I'm back to c1720 on Mum's side and around 1815 on Dad's. It's really interesting, so going to pay a visit to the library (also going to make B take me to the graveyard in Whitburn cos she's from up that way and I don't really know where Whitburn is, let alone the graveyard in it - plus it's in the countryside and me and the country don't really see eye to eye).
Which has just reminded me I had a dream about cows last night - someone wanted me to walk through a field full of cows and I didn't want to go cos I knew they would chase me. Don't know what it means - probably just stay out of fields (actually, have I ever even been in a field?)
toodles til next time.

OMG how true can these things be...

When I was in Adsa today I got a wee mini Bop It. Hadn't played it for about 4 years, but OMG I had almost forgotten just how much fun it was. So simple yet so so so addictive - last time I played they kicked me out the log cabin cos I was so annoying with it (was all K's fault for bringing it though). Will need to have a party soon cos it is mucho funno when you're all pissed.

Photoshop was excellent last night - quite complicated but really really good results.

Got to dash cos little Bop It is sitting beside my kepboard looking at me.

Begin Again

After a really really hellish week last week, which brought even more bad news towards the end of the week, it's time to get over it.

As luck would have it, I managed to persuade C to go to the Killers with me, only to then get a text from B this morning to say that she knew someone who'd like to go with me too (I don't know who - the msg was a bit cryptic but I think it is someone i don't know) - have ended up with 4 tix so will see how it goes.

Went to visit Mum earlier cos she got back from hols yesterday morning - she brought me loads of nice stuffs (included Chanel No 5, which I love and had none left), she also had an invite for me to a party in Feb, which should be good cos G's going too.

Going to start my clear-out later - also going to get rid of my other monitor as G & A bought a pc with a monitor thrown in so they don't need it anymore and it is a bit heavy for my glass desk. I'm aiming to get shot of around 50% of clothes and 20% of shoes and bags (although realistically it won't happen - I'll end up just buying more storage boxes!).

The week with no number

Since I don’t believe in giving days or weeks a rating of less than 4, this week shall henceforth be known as the week with no number.

Got off to a bad start yesterday when I got some really bad news when I went into work. That sort of put me on a downer for the day

Was looking forward to going to John Cale last night, but it didn’t materialise – went to Photoshop instead, which was good but quite difficult. Loathe myself for having something to eat when I went home though, as trying not to eat after 3pm. At least TBC came yesterday, although it’s still lying in my bag as wasn’t in the mood for it.

Today isn’t much better to be honest – still hate myself for letting myself go so much that I am just a big blob. To make matters worse, I can’t even get anyone to go to The Killers with me – all my friends are either busy or don’t want to go – so it’s looking like I’ll have to go on my own, which won’t be nearly as much fun.

So basically, at the moment all my high hopes for this year are fading fast already – hopefully next couple of days will bring an upturn.

Just Stuff

Just a little update on things so far... Friday nigh was great, although meal at Est Est Est was very average (and overpriced). Had such a laugh at the Jam House as it was a really good crowd that turned up. I had sore feet by 1am, which wasn't too bad considering I had had my new shoes on since 8 in the morning without a break. Got home about 2:45 and just went straight to bed.
Yesterday I didn't do much - just the usual boring housy stuff, then went with M to see H & O in their dance show. They were really good (so were E & R, the other 2 girls I knew who were in it). Was finished by 10:30 so nipped into Asda on the way home (but forgot to get milk again and really fancy tea or coffee - can't really be arsed going to the shop though so will just have hot orange instead).
Got some cards and jewellery to catch up on today, but I sort of know what I'm doing for most of the stuff so should get it finished today.
Hopefully going to John Cale with N tomorrow, so will report back.

One Hundred Percent...

...going to The Killers next month. Thinking about making it the start of a long weekend as it's my birthday that weekend and I don't normally do anything for it.
Also added to my list of things I need to start doing:
  • Use a different handbag each day (or thereabouts) instead of using one for months and having the rest all piled up in boxes.
  • Ditto shoes and boots
  • Eat a breakfast - I loathe eating in the mornings, but I must learn to do it - had some Special K this morning and it was ok.
  • Chuck out some clothes

Will add more when I think of them.

Burn Babeh, Burn

Wooohoooo ordered the Burning Crusade today (even though I've not even been on WoW for a week). Should come tomorrow, but going out tomorrow night & Friday & Sat so may get a quick couple of hours on Thursday. Did sensible stuffs too like order some stuff for making necklaces to add to my non existant stock.
Managed to pick up some garments on my hour long (!!!!!) shopping trip on Saturday - only have a couple of take-backs in amongst them, so I'll do that on my way home on Thursday night. Killing time atm til I go for my hair cut - can't wait cos I look so skanky with the last week or so.
College class started back last night - it was great to get back into it. Sneaked a peek at the macs when I was going along the corridor.
GTG cos either need to clean desk before I go back out or think about cleaning it and do it when I get home again.

Reality Strikes

Well, that's almost my first full week back at work and it really hasn't been too bad at all (although I'm struggling to get up in the mornings, which isn't like me). Very positive about this year though (even if I do already know a few bad things are going to happen). I've not posted the last few days cos all my waking, non-working hours have been taken up by watching the darts!!!

Lucky Mum is off to the Caribbean tomorrow - so jealous.

Going to
The Jam House for a leaving night next Friday, so need to try to pick up a new outfit tomorrow lunchtime. Oh and getting hair done on Tuesday, which is great news cos the other day it looked so skanky I had to wear my fave Chanel lipgloss just to make me look half presentable. Was going to do the whole skirt and high heels thing today, but the weather was shit so opted for trousers and boots instead - I swear bloody crappy Scotland is the biggest hinderence to my glamness.

Got C & A coming for dinner on Sat, which will be fun as I'll get to do my Nigella bit, then drink copious amounts of champagne, red wine and amaretto :D:D:D. Must rem to shift remainder of underlay that i put in the dining room when I got the hall done though.

Anyways ttfn bloggy-types, hopefully I'll post tales tomorrow full of the joys of walking into the first clothes shop I see and finding the perfect outfit right by the door (although knowing me, the tales could well be of a tantrum I have in a clothes shop cos they don't have anything I want).

In 2007 I hope to...

...do the following things (plus some others)
  • work less play more :D:D
  • make a shedload of stuff and do a craft fair
  • drop some weight
  • become more glam
  • get back to the gym
  • try to see my friends more
  • throw some parties
  • not change too much (cos I love being me)

Hopefully the above things will make me more like the old Lisa. I've also got a couple of things I really wish will happen, but obviously I can't write them down or they won't.

The Luck of Lisa

Today was the best ever first-day-back-at-work-after-the-holidays!!! Heating is broken and building is absolutely freezing so we got sent home at 11:30. I am so happy cos it is like getting another day's holiday - and I really couldn't get motivated today :D:D:D
Off to do something productive with my bonus half day :D:D:D

Happy New Year

Well 2007 is upon is and I hope it's a bit cheerier than 2006. Best just to say 2006 wasn't really a personal best for me - seem to have got to that stage in my life where all my friends have gotten married or are in long-term relationships, so never seem to be available for nights out etc - I suppose this is just something I'm going to have to come to terms with, although it's difficult for me cos I love going out so much.

2006 did bring some good things. Went on holiday with Mum and we got on fine, which was a relief. Also managed to get some decorating done and new carpets in the rooms that needed them. Worked far too many hours, which meant jewellery and card making had to take a back seat, which was really disappointing for me - I had so many plans and ideas for stuff, but no time/energy to put them into action.

Hogmanay plans didn't go quite according to plan, as weather meant Stirling Castle got cancelled. Went down to M's though and we had a nice night watching tv with the girls.

Back to work tomorrow - this seems to have been the shortest Christmas break ever - been really tired and drained all hols so that's most of the stuff I had planned to do still not done.

Anyways I have a list as long as a monster's arm for all the things I want to do in 2007 both personally and to make me a better person.

ttfn - hope 2007 brings you everything you wish for.

Back to the Dare

Well, it's been a few weeks since I've had a chance to do the Daring Card Makers weekly challenge, so it was nice to get back to normality with this week's dare - A Simple Thank You Card.

So, here's mine. As per usual I take full responsiblity for the poor quality of the photo (don't have a scanner here, only in my office) - all the edges are actually straight even (apart from the torn ones obviously) though they look decidedly wonky.

All the stuff I used was from my new goodies I got for crimbo - paper and card are DCWV (paper stack 4 and matchmakers 2 card stack). Tags are Sizzlits small and alphabet and swirl are from the delicious QK Sunshine set.

Hope...

...all you bloggy types had a great Christmas and managed to survive the sales (no way would you catch me going round the shops aimlessly - I only shop if I need something and even then 30 mins is enough for me).
Was hoping to be all wireless by now, but stupid pc on the blink and not showing the CD drives so I can't load the installation disc - will need to take it apart and put it back together again. c said he would come round if I couldn't get the router to work, so perhaps I can persuade him to look at the drives for me.
Loving this having time of work lark - could really really get used to it.
Going to make some stuff this afternoon, although now that I have time on my hands I have complete creative block - always the case isn't it.
Supposed to be going to Stirling Castle for Hogmanay, but the weather forecast isn't great and I don't have any clothes to wear if I have to be outside in wind/rain.
Oooo and it looks like I've got a 99% chance of getting a ticket for The Killers in Feb, which is great (I was on holiday when they announced it at short notice, so was completely unaware of it until I came home).

Decisions Decisions

Can't make my mind up - do I wrap my presents later tonight or have an early night and do them before I do the housework in the morning. Lucky I remembered to get sellotape when I was in Asda tonight.
Got Mum's necklace finished - really pleased with it, so hope she likes it. I'll try to take a piccy before I wrap it. Also did a bracelet that Mum only asked me for tonight.
I'm definitely going to be more organised next year at Christmas (although I do recall saying this last year and the year before...)
Really cold tonight, so I'm glad I'm staying in - nothing worse than having to do crimbo with a hangover.
Have a great Christmas - hope Santa is good to you all.

Hang my head in shame...

...cos I am a totally crap friend. Yet again it's too late to post cards and I have a ton sitting for some of my best friends which I haven't even written yet. It's not that I try to be thoughtless or anything - it just seems to happen every year (and every year I swear to be more organised and not spend the last few days before crimbo totally guilt ridden). I'm sure if christmas was in the summer I'd be totally on top of it, but hate doing stuff in the winter and work always seems to be mega busy in the run up.

That's no excuse though and I can only apologise if you don't get a card. I will try harder next year; perhaps now that I've got desk and stuff sorted in here I will be more keen throughout the year cos I won't be making a mess in the living room.

Was on a half day today, supposedly going to finish my xmas shopping. Met Mum and mumped about M&S food hall for a bit. Then I still had to look for something for me so wasted about 20 mins looking for a pair of shoes in a 4 which I meant to buy in the summer but didn't - needless to say no 4s or even 3s - did try on a 5 but they were like boats and I would most probably have broken my neck falling out them (see post entitled Whee!). Then Mum said she had seen a ring she'd like to go in with her present so we trotted off the the jewellers she had seen it in but they didn't have it any more. Wasted another 20 mins trying on other ones she didn't like. Had had enough by then so we split up and I went home (forgot to take my Percy Pigs from the M&S bag too :(). Was going to bake a cake for G, cos she was coming round to pick up a necklace I'd made for her work secret santa but watched and old movie on Film4 and had a nap instead (G was cool about it - I'll do it tomorrow or Sunday or next week for her).

B & I are going to take A and S (if he can make it) for lunch tomorrow, but will just be a quickie as we need to get back to the office for the afternoon gathering we've arranged (was supposed to be mulled wine etc, but as it got closer B & me couldn't be arsed so Cava, cranberry and orange juice instead now :D:D.

Prestonfield House was so gorgeous last week. I want to move in!!! I could feed the peacocks (god I love peacocks so much) and turn the dishwasher on every night :D:D

Got
The Witchery on Saturday this week. Got to love crimbo for all the going out (especially this year as I've hardly been out at all!)
Anyways, if I don't post again in the next couple of days, hope all you bloggy-types have an exceptionally cool yule (and that santa's good to you).
ttfn xoxo
p.s. Miss JP - if you're in town on Sat night give me a bell - we could meet for a drink - sure C would like to see you too - I'll email you tomorrow.

On the Eighth Day of Christmas...

...my true love said to me "you'd better make a start on that whole Christmas thing, sweetie!"
Actually I don't have a true love (one less present to buy I suppose), but if I did I am sure that's what he'd say.
Yup you've guessed, the annual countdown to Christmas began today chez LB. Didn't get a real tree this year, but shoved an artificial one up. Started my Christmas shopping today with Mum & G - 3 hours it took (although we did stop and hour in the middle for a coffee). I really really can't do that amount of time round the shops (no serious medical reason or anything - just get bored with shopping very very quickly). Quite pleased with what I have so far though - will get the remainders on Thursday afternoon (on a half day) or next Sunday morning.
Going to finish making some more cards then write them all tonight (writing cards is my most loathed part of Christmas) and post any that need posted tomorrow (hopefully), so really I'm almost all set. I'll put cards I've got up tomorrow too :D:D
Got a nice alphabet last night for a brill price, so since Auntie L can't get the jammies I wanted, she can give me that.
ttfn - have some paperwork to do before I write my cards.

When you wish upon a star...

...does a lovely new Mac drop onto your desk. In my case unfortunately not. Last night of college tonight and they let us loose on the Macs - omg how much do I now covet one - I was stroking it and almost had to be prised off it at the end of the night.
I will try to save my pennies up I think.
...does your lucky jacket turn up after loosing it? In my case yup it does. It was even luckier than I thought. In case you don't know, I couldn't find it when I was leaving the boozer on Friday night. Went into work this morning and L said "I've got your jacket - really sorry but somehow I ended up wearing it to go home in" - she left before me so no wonder I couldn't find it :D. Dead chuffed as thus far I've always managed to avoid losing my jacket on a night out - I have left it in a cloakroom before but always got it the next day - I usually leave the losing to G.
That's it for tonight - off to dream of Mac, my new love.

There's a Light...

...over at the Frankenstein House (well actually it's at the end of the tunnel). Hall all papered and painted - was intending on emulsioning on top of the paper on my day off on Wednesday, but it might be ok without it - carpet fitter coming on Thursday afternoon :D:D
Can't wait for the hols this year - so so so tired - definitely going to try not to work such long hours next year, as there's so much other stuff i wanted to get done but I just always seem to be shattered. That said the next 2 weeks will be manic, but I can live with that. Off on the afternoon of the 21st so should be able to get some xmas shopping done then.
Definitely turning wintery now though - wish someone would whisk me off to someplace warm for a few weeks.

Tonight I've been...

...making these spiders and drinking a nice glass of red wine. It's very calming for me.

I'm not at all upset about the decorating lark now. And just going to go out drinking after all tomorrow cos mum says I can stay at hers if I don't want to get up early Saturday.

G & A came up tonight to help me roll the new hall carpet tighter (it's been sitting in the dining room for about 9 months) and move it into the living room so the carpet fitter doesn't make a mess of my newly done walls, so I'll probably spend most of my time in here or reading in bed for the next week.

Not a scooby what to wear tomorrow - some people are getting dressed up, but it's during the day and I'd feel like a complete twonk with party gear on. Did get some nice new Barry M make-up today though - majorly cheered me up cos their colours are soooooo pretty. Got nice purples (yeah I know I have about 40 purple eyeshadows already, but I didn't have this one and it would have been silly not to get nailpolish and eyeliner to match!). Must rem to paint toes tonight in case i decide to wear sandals (no big rubber crocs for me, girlies).

ttfn - off to make some dinner. xoxoxo

The Nightmare Before Christmas...

...AKA my life!
I got home late from work tonight to find no decorating done and a message from the decorator saying he was ill. If he's well enough tomorrow he's got to do his scheduled job tomorrow so the best he can do mine is the weekend (so that's going for the christmas tree completely fucked). Also means I won't get any of my stuff done I had planned for this weekend cos I'll have to be out all day sat and sun now. Also he probably won't have time to emulsion so guess what I'll be doing instead of christmas shopping next weekend.
Feel like just crawling into bed, pulling sheets over head, crying and not moving for a month.
Won't even be able to go out drinking on Friday now cos will need to be up before 7 if he's coming at 8. I suppose it is all my own fault for thinking it was a good thing he had a cancellation as I originally wasn't going to get it done til Jan (yet another classic case of LB screwing things up).
Taken 10 mins out and not bothered about it at all now, cos have decided not to do christmas tree (it's only me that ever sees it anyway and I'm not really in the mood) etc. I'll pick up a couple of pressies for people on 23rd/24th and that'll have to do.

Why Does...?

...a fan belt only squeak when it is cold outside?

Decorator almost done - I like my front door white so much better than when it was wood.

Apart from that everything else is much the same - still sick fed up of everything and cna't wait for the hols to come.

Oh the cake I made on Sunday came out nice - going to keep 2 slices for myself and give the rest to Mum and B. Think I will do another one at the weekend. Going for my tree on Sat so would be nice to have some mulled wine and a slice of cake when I'm watching the fairy lights at night (life just doesn't get anymore exciting than this does it!!)

Warpath

Don't know what it is this week, but I've been on the warpath with everything. Now I know I could be known as being slightly volatile anyway (can't really see it myself though), but everything this week has sent me into a rant. Lucky B's been in a similar frame of mine so we've been kind of bouncing off each other. I think what kicked it all off was that someone at work who i really dislike (so much so I don't even have to use a name cos I will know) said something to B along the lines of "oh I told x that if I was off work (with a piddling little cold!!) that you and Lisa would do it. B went ballistic at her and explained that I'm already covering for someone as well as doing my own stuff so she's trying to pick of some of mine as well as her own. Anyways it probably makes no sense to anyone apart from me and B (who doesn't read this), but that's the reason for my black mood. Downside is that, although I don't mind being angry/grumpy/snippy/stroppy etc etc, sometimes when I'm really mad like this I start to get a bit paranoid, which isn't v. pleasant.
On an upside, the monstrosity which was once my hall carpet is no more. I cut it all up and put it in black bags on Wed night. Must must must get hall finished over the weekend as decorator coming on Monday.
Going to make a cake tomorrow cos cake smell always cheers me up (not like that horrible fake stuff in the supermarkets which just makes me feel sick). Better not eat it though cos far too fat as it is.
Not much else to report apart from I happened across a pic of Paulo Nutini earlier - you just would wouldn't you!
Ugh, just noticed one of the bulbs in here has gone; if I don't change a bulb soon I won't have any light left.
Oh and my GM on WoW told me that lvl 17 and a soldier in a guild isn't bad for someone that's only been playing their first char for 2 weeks :D:D:D
Ok, that's all for tonight unless I think of anything else to say later.

Obligatory Update

Friday night was really great (although I realised about 20 mins before I was due to get picked up that the skirt and top I had been planning to wear didn't go with each other - I know I should have checked beforehand, but no-one ever does do they).
Was so tired for the rest of the weekend though - really can't wait until crimbo to get some time off - feel at the moment my weekends are a total waste cos spend them exhausted.
Have nearly finished the hall - what a nightmare that's been - how can such a small area have 9 doors in it. Doesn't help matters that the stupid people who lived here before me wallpapered then put on new skirtings/doorframes/coving on top of the paper!!!
Decorator is coming a week tomorrow so need to go to B&Q on Wednesday night to see if they have any paper I like (if not I'll go to Homebase on Thursday). Need to lift the carpet after I've finished the stripping next weekend too - god it's at times like this that I wish I wasn't single!
Anyways really tired tonight still so going to read for a couple of hours til it's time for sleep.
ttfn
p.s. only 25xp from 15 - weeeeeeeeeeeeee (although I did attempt an instance on my own and got mega zapped - won't be doing that again).

Bad Bad Blogger

yup that's me - I've been completely useless lately cos neck was so sore last week and been so busy at work this week - luckily neck is well on the way to being better now. I haven't even had the chance to take a wander around my fave blogs, so will be doing that tonight (along with just generally chilling).
Off out to a party night tomorrow. Can't decide what to wear though - for someone who doesn't go out much these days I still seem to have a plethora (i do love that word) of party outfits in my wardrobe. Really looking forward to it - will report on any tasty men on Saturday (hahaha fat bloody chance of that happening round about here!!).
Anyways ttfn - have other pressing things to do (and would really like to get another level on WoW).
xoxo

Ribbon for Men

Well better late than never I suppose - just been so so busy with work this week. Here's my card for this week's Daring Cardmakers challenge. It was a card I did for a friend who celebrated his birthday on Halloween (hence the colour scheme).

Pain in the Neck

OMG I don't know what I've done, but can't move my head without seeing stars. Think I have a trapped nerve or done something to a muscle. Caused a major moment of self pity this morning, but getting over it now.

Heating finally broke over the weekend - could kick myself cos I knew it was acting up but didn't bother doing anything about it (I seem to have a permanent "leave it alone and it'll sort itself out attitude to things like this - why oh why do I never learn!!). E-mailed Scottish Power to come and fix it, as I hate speaking to halfwits on the phone and always end up losing it.

Nothing much else to report - after having such a nice time on Friday, the rest of the weekend was pretty flat.
On a sad note, M's little puppy, Angel, didn't recover from the infection she had and died yesterday :(. Also read today that Desert Orchid died. I don't think I'll ever get another pet cos I just get too attached.
Photoshop tonight, but can't be arsed going cos my neck hurts too much. It will be worth it if I can learn to make myself look perfect though ;)

¿Hablas Español?

Here's my first card for this week's Daring Cardmakers dare. Being crap at languages I opted for Spanish cos it was the only one I could do without having to look up the words. This is actuallly the second version as the first versoin had a Santa on it and I realised once it was finished that the 3 wise men bring the pressies in Spain.
Strangely enough I couldn't find a wise man at short notice (lol story of my life!!!!!)

Tra-la-la-la-la

Went to see Flaming Lips with N on Friday night - enjoyed myself so much :D:D. We left before the end cos N had a party to go to. I could've stayed on my own but I was worried I would feel a bit twonkish (you know me - love company at things). Would love to have a photo to post here, but idiot that I am, I forgot to take my camera.
Saturday I just slobbed about in jammies all day and did absolutely nothing - ended up going to bed before 1, which is why I'm up so bright and early on a Sunday morning.
G should finally bring the steamer up today, so hopefully the hall will be all stripped and carpet lifted by the end of tonight (that means I will be able to forget about it til the decorator comes in a couple of weeks).
Going now before I bore you all.

Thursday Thrills

Made this necklace for a colleague last night (used Swarovski crystal golden shadow seashell & 6mm bicones & 4mm silk bicones, along with 2mm sterling silver beads). Really enjoyed making it and have a good idea for a new one for myself too (will use the money I get for this one for the stuff for mine).
Really glad it's the weekend tomorrow, although it's been a pretty quick week. Deffo going to Flaming Lips - apparently they put on a great show, so looking forward to that bigstyle.
Ordered WoW today (knowing my luck it won't come until after the weekend though).
That's about it for tonight - going to attempt to have a productive evening (once I've watched the news and had a nice long bath of course).
TTFN xoxo
p.s.
  • Saw this question on the news - Would you say someone else was driving if you got got on a speed camera?
  • LB answer - If they would admit to it, damn sure I would (although as of a couple of months ago I do have a clean driving licence - so glad the one from Edinburgh in the summer didn't come through!!)

Who is...

…this bad tempered person who has taken over my body today and how low will they stay there? Ok, I know I’m probably considered to be slightly volatile even on a good day, but today has just been one long rant for me. I think I have been possessed by Kevin the Teenager. Absolutely anything and everything is seriously pissing me off today.

I really must get myself in order over the next couple of months. Right now I hardly ever go out anymore cos I’m not happy with the way I look (shallow and vain I know, but at least I don’t care how other people look), so firstly I need to do something about that (just wish I could find an overnight solution). Then I need to persuade like-minded peoples to join me in nights of revelry.

Anyways, enough self-pitying crap – absolutely adamant I’m not going to turn into one of those whiny ‘poor me’ people, cos actually my life is really fucking great and I love being me. I do realise things/people can’t be perfect all the time, but think sometimes I have high expectations and a slightly overactive imagination (but there again would much rather have an overactive one that have none at all!!).

Who knows – next year I may even decide to compromise now and again – haha dream on folks!!!
Oh, and since I hardly ever post pics of myself, here's me looking far too happy at work today:

Number 1 in my new list of things you do even though you know it's not quite right somehow: Dipping a fun size Snickers into your mug of hot orange - not quite the same as dipping it into tea somehow.

Remember, remember

Went to the firework display in Callendar Park with C & A, who kindly fed me before we walked up - first Sunday dinner if had in ages.

Fireworks were lovely - always just a normal firework display for bonfire night, not a sound and light thing like they do for Big in Falkirk, although they did have music playing too.

Here's a couple of photos I took - omg you've got to be quick to take photos of fireworks if you're not a great photographer.

Friday Fireworks

Ok, ok - I know bonfire night isn't until Sunday, but the title sounded nice. Had to work a bit late tonight, but knew about it earlier in the week so wasn't too fussed.

Still having trouble with the heating - will need to call about it if it hasn't sorted itself out over the weekend. Not doing much this weekend - might have M's kids for an afternoon (or one of them) as she has an essay to do, but they are great fun and like making stuff so it'll be nice if I do.
Still need to organise someone to go to firework display on Sunday - will ask C tomorrow as she likes fireworks.

Next Friday I'm hoping to go see
The Flaming Lips (as long as I can still get a ticket and N doesn't mind me tagging along.
G was meant to drop a stripper round today but she didn't and is working all weekend (although she might still drop it round first thing in the morning I suppose).
Off to read my book in a nice long hot bath soon, and may partake in a couple of glasses of vino before bedtime.

Tuesday tittle-tattle

Good evening little bloggy peoples, hope this post finds you all well. Lots of things to report since my last posting.

Firstly autumn is definitely here – I’m missing summer already and trying to decide where to go on hols next year (and who to persuade to go with me). Finally got heating to come on (sort of, but don’t really know what I did – all rooms in flat cosy and toasty though so can’t complain).

Went to SECC with L, N & R on Sunday – we had an absolute ball (it was a pity T couldn’t make it this time though). I did almost lose my debit card, but luckily I had left it in the machine thingy when I bought a ticket (then scampered off to grab a can of irn bru which was a total rip off). Apparently they called us on the tannoy & stuff, but I must’ve been so busy getting my e-number fix I didn’t notice. Luckily about 3 hours later I noticed that my purse was open and my card wasn’t in it, so went back to the desk to recover it. Got some nice crafty stuff (see photo below), which can hopefully be put to use on the long dark winter nights.
Work’s been really good so far this week, although complete bedlam – don’t know what I’m doing half the time.

Photoshop class was last night – I had spend 7 hours at work on one document, so that coupled with 3 hours of digital editing did mean my eyes were pretty tired by the time I got home. Was really, really pleased with some of my images though; I was working on photos I took in Palma (which I realise I still haven’t posted here yet) and seriously considering getting a couple of them put onto canvas.

Finally did some food shopping today – went to Morrisons for a change – was really impressed – had a great selection and made a change from the normal Asda or (dreaded) Tesco routine. Got some yummy olives stuffed with lemon, monkey nuts since it’s Halloween and mint Matchmakers because they’re nice, so sort of got a sore belly from eating so much. In a similar vein I got a cracking little cookbook on Friday – lots of really nice stuff in it, so will need to organise some dinners in the next couple of months.

Finally went to see C on Saturday – her wedding photos were great and they’re settling in to the new house really well. She invited me to The Witchery on 23rd Dec, should be a fab night (and by a strange coincidence I’m off to Rhubarb at Prestonfield House the weekend before.(luckily the menus are quite different as they’re owned by the same people).

Spanish class tonight, so off to attempt to cram a week’s work into half an hour.

Dare 2 - Use the Kitchen

I've used the kitchen i 2 separate ways for this dare (certainly wasn't for cooking though as haven't been food shopping yet - will deffo today or tomorrow though!)

This card is made by sticking split peas onto a Quicktutz tree then dusting with spring green Pearlex powder. The background paper is American Traditional Designs - Dear Santa. (as usual my photo is pretty crap, so I'll try to do a scan on Monday)

This card is made with Fimo embellishments (which required me to use the oven to bake them) Tags are cut from Making Memories Cosmopolitan and the font is GAW.

Feelgood Friday

Wooohoooo – the weekend is finally here – is it only me who feels this has been a long long week. Things for me still going great – probably the happiest I’ve been in quite a while – my reflection period is doing me the world of good.

Meeting with L, N & R on Sunday – sure we’ll have fun (cos we always do).

I really must put some effort into stripping the hall this weekend – I know you regular readers will be thinking “she can’t still be doing that, it’s been going on for months now”, but it is amazing how quickly I seem to be able to become accustomed to the squat-look (just ask anyone who saw the paint splodges in my living room for most of last year!!).

Apart from that I think all I’ll be doing is general catching up with my friends. Need to see Mum & G at some point too.

Oh and found a voucher for M&S in my brown bag earlier in the week (hadn’t used the bag since last winter) so Percy Pig heaven here I come…

The only slightly frustrating thing at the moment is that I don’t know how to work my heating (even though I’ve lived here for almost 8 years), so it’s just sort of pot luck messing around with the timer – perhaps I’ll get it tomorrow.

xoxo

Totally Tuesday

Finally seem to be able to load photos to blogger again, so will get some of my holiday ones up over the next couple of days (don't bother holding your breath unless you're into buildings/statues/sea though!!). Over the weekend I didn't do much, but sort of did lots of little things if you know what I mean.
On Sunday went with M, H & O to see The Devil Wears Prada. N - much as it pains me to admit it, you were 100% correct - it was totally rubbish (would give it 3/10 at a push, but perhaps that's because I'm in a particularly generous mood today).
Really looking forward to meeting L, N & R at the weekend - must remember to get in touch with T too, to find out if she's feeling up to it.
Got nice short cord knickerbocker things yesterday - v. Little Lord Faulteroy - all I need to go with them now is the trilby I've been coveting (and someplace to go!!).
Actually thinking about places to go, it's not long until Bonfire Night - must get something sorted cos I adore fireworks so much.
Oh, and if you know me in real life, you may actually get a christmas card from me this year as I've sort of started making them (again, probably safer not to start holding your breath quite yet!). Must must must rem to do M's b/day card.
Have decided I'd really like one of those pen & tablet thingys you use for Photoshop, so off to scan Ebay - any recommendations appreciated.

The first dare

This my first attempt at the first dare on the brand new Daring Cardmakers blog.

Not particularly pleased with the result - it looks very simple compared to all the other entries (although I do tend to opt for bold/simple most of the time).

The lilac spotty paper is Making Memories, the font is Curly Girlie.

Almost There

Well, it's been a chaotic week workwise, but a good one I suppose - I'd be bored stiff if it wasn't hectic.
On Tuesday I went to see Volver - it was excellent; Penelope Cruz is so much better as an actress when she's speaking in her native tongue. God would I kill to look like instead of like me too. It was at the Town Hall and they had this cracking Taxi Driver poster, as it is showing on Monday. I've asked if I can get it once they're finished with it - so fingers crossed cos it would look really good in my hall.
Tonight I'm off to a Christmas dinner & party although hopefully will manage to bail about 21:00. Got some stuff I'd like to work on when I get home, all in ancipation of something I'm really looking forward to tomorrow. Hopefully it will give me the kick up the arse I've been needing lately.
No plans for the weekend :( apart from trying to see The Devil Wears Prada.
Sorry it's a bit short and not particularly sweet tonight, but in a bit of a rush.
Oh, and I want to learn to play guitar.

Lots of little things

Come together to make me feel happy :)
Nothing major, nothing gobsmackingly exciting, but you know just when things seem to be going right for you.
M came round on Saturday afternoon - I helped her with her presentation, we ate scones with jam & clotted cream and we've arranged to see The Devil Wears Prada next weekend (we were going to go on Sat night, but M said H wanted to see it as well, but her and O were at their Dad's for the weekend and it seemed too cruel to go without her).
Sat night I watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory before The Omen came on. It was enjoyable - a bit strange but good. Johnny Depp looked rather bizarre, but still tasty.
Sunday went into town with Mum and G. Had a nice shopping day - got everyday boots which are so so comfy and G got a nice green coat (which just may be getting borrowed from time to time).
I also managed (finally!!!!) to get new bedding - I mean it's only been February since I decorated my bedroom. Now all I need is spare bedding, curtains and a lightshade - didn't bother me too much in the summer cos it was light really early and didn't get dark til really late, but now it is a bit embarrassing when I have to put the light on in the morning and all I have is a bare bulb hanging from the ceiling and no curtains.
Made a start on cutting out bits for crimbo cards - still not got a finished one yet though. Quite busy this week as had college tonight, going to a Spanish movie tomorrow, have a pre Christmas freebie bash on Thursday.
Still got loads of things I need to do before the end of the year, but all in all things are looking promising :D:D

That Friday Feeling!!!

You know the one - you're completely shattered, get home from work early and all you really want to do is go to bed and stay there til morning.
Going to have a lovely relaxing time this weekend. Want to spend some time catching up with Mum, C, and M. Also want to spend some time working on ideas for new cards and stuff. Got Charlie & the Chocolate Factory to watch tomorrow night between X Factor andThe Omen (and stuff to make a nice dinner from M&S - in fact already had 4 Percy Pigs!!). Sure I'll manage to find some time for reading in nice long baths as well.
Bumped into DMcN at lunchtime - is weird cos I have barely seen him since we left school then I bump into him twice in the last couple of months. Was good to see him (although isn't it always nice to see your old school chums). Unfortunately I was on lunchbreak so didn't have time to catch up.
Traffic going back to work was terrible - it ended up taking me half an hour to travel 3 miles - stupid temporary traffic lights at the roadworks were only working in one direction, resulting in total gridlock!!!
That's about it for now really I think, but I'll try to actually make something and see if I can get my photos to show on silly blogger.
TTFN xoxo
p.s. Kathy, you know I'll thinking about you over the next couple of days (and thanks for your kind words). You know where I am if you want someone to speak to. xo

Not forgotten

... about you little blog - just seem to have not enough hours in the day and been really tired - too tired to write really.

Anyways if anyone reads this just to let you know I will start posting again at the weekend - because of some really bad times in the past this is always when I do my reflections/resolutions/ambitions, so got a list as long as my arm to write about all the things I want to do in the next 12 months, both at home and at work.
Catchya soon.
